The objectives of the Tanzania Sustainable Development Initiative (TSDI) center around raising environmental awareness and empowering communities to take action toward conservation and sustainable development. TSDI aims to combat all forms of environmental degradation by educating the public, conducting research, and implementing participatory programs that promote resilience, adaptation, and better environmental practices. The organization focuses on changing negative attitudes rooted in tradition or culture that hinder conservation, while actively engaging youth, women, and vulnerable groups in development efforts. Through policy advocacy, community outreach, and collaboration with media, TSDI works to influence behavior change, support good governance, and contribute to broader national goals in health, education, and environmental sustainability.

- To strengthen education and training in climate change resilience, adaptation and mitigation to our local society.
- Change people’s attitudes towards environment which in one way or another hinders the conservation and management efforts (tradition and cultures).
- Look for different opportunities/resources inside and outside the country to empower the community to use for sustainable development to improve their standards of living while conserving the environment for future generations.
- Statistical research of badly affected areas due to environmental degradation by the use of participatory approach with local dwellers and make plans on how combat/prevent such conditions.
- To carry different researches on conservation methods and the effects of poor environmental conservation practices to the community and also to distribute the research findings done by the government, private researchers and others.
- To enable children and youth to recognize their potential duties towards the conservation, management, restoration of the environment and to embrace better environments for sustainable developments.
- To equally involve women, men, disabled, and vulnerable groups (elderly, children, HIV/AIDS victims, refugees, orphans, homeless people and drug addicts) in the implementation of different projects.
- Building capacity, creativity in arts and development activities.
- To ensure that different activities and campaigns (Humanitarian, gender and equality, good governance among others) are involved in the implementation of environmental management projects.
- Consultancy and policy advocacy on environment, governance, among others.
- To cooperate effectively with media and other mass communication organs in the running of different campaigns which will emphasize environmental conservation practices (documentary production and airing).
- To support the Government’s efforts in the fight against illiteracy, poverty and diseases.
- To enable the community, live in good health and run different campaigns, workshops and trainings focusing on health and sanitation issues.
